Postdoc and PhD positions on Solid-state quantum photonics

Leibniz University Hannover is a member of TU-9 in Germany and has the highest DFG grants in the research area Optics and Quantum Optics.

Within the newly granted Cluster of Excellence “QuantumFrontiers” as well as the ERC starting grant “QD-NOMS”, Postdoc and PhD positions are available immediately in the group of Prof. Dr. Fei Ding in Leibniz University Hannover.

Often referred to as artificial atoms, semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are among the most promising single and entangled photon sources to build a solid-state quantum photonic network. We aim to build an elementary QD network via scalable interactions of single or entangled photons, in a fashion similar to that of real atoms. Also, we are interested to use the solid-state quantum photonic platforms to extend the applications in metrology beyond the quantum limit (in a joint effort with National Metrology Institute of Germany, and Technical University Braunschweig).

The candidates should have a strong background in experimental quantum optics. Knowledge of semiconductor devices, nanofabrication and programing languages is a plus, but not required. The 2-year postdoc positions are paid on 100% of TV-L E13. The 3-year PhD positions are initially on 50 % of TV-L E13, and up to 75% afterwards.
