Our research group has participated in the Girls’Day and Boys’Day 2025 on April 3rd, 2025.
Under the slogan “Experience how tiny semiconductor structures create great things for the technology of the future”, the pupils got an introduction to the perspective use of single photons in quantum technologies like quantum communication and quantum key distribution. During their stay in our research group, they got an insight of how fun physics can be. In guided laboratory tours, they were shown the devices which are used to fabricate semiconductor quantum dots, serving as single photon emitters. Practical work was done in optics laboratories, where they participated actively in aligning optical setups and conducted basic photoluminescence measurements including using different optical filters to see the different photons emitted by the quantum dots. Their positive feedback encourages us to plan another session in 2026.
