2D - 2D Tunneling

Measurements on bilayer systems enable the examination of electronic properties of the material. Therefore, Drive-Drag and 2D-2D tunneling measurements are performed on GaAs double quantum wells or on 2D materials like e. g. graphene at low temperatures (T<1.5 K). Transport properties including many body effects are determined by scanning the electronic spectral function based on quantum mechanical tunneling. Additionally, magneto tunneling measurements on bilayer systems allow deep insight into the quantum Hall physics by examination of filling factor combinations, which lead to new quantum effects like exitonic condensates.
